The ingredients needed to make Canned Mackerel Mazegohan:
  1. Prepare 200-300 g Canned Mackerel in Water
  2. Take *Note: Today I used 425g can. The fish weighed about 270g after drained
  3. Take 1 small piece Ginger *sliced into fine strips
  4. Make ready 1 tablespoon Sake (Rice Wine)
  5. Prepare 1 tablespoon Mirin
  6. Prepare 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce
  7. Prepare 2 cups (*180ml cup) Japanese Short Grain Rice
  8. Take 2 Spring Onions *finely chopped
  9. Take Toasted Sesame Seeds
  10. Take Toasted Nori

Instructions to make Canned Mackerel Mazegohan:
  1. Wash Rice then cook as normal.
  2. Drain the canned Mackerel, remove bones, and roughly flake. Place in a heat-proof bowl, add Ginger, and sprinkle with Sake, Mirin and Soy Sauce. Heat in the microwave for 1 minute, take out and stir, then heat 1 more minutes.
  3. Add the mackerel mixture and finely chopped Spring Onion to freshly cooked hot rice, and mix to combine evenly.
  4. Enjoy with some Toasted Sesame Seeds OR/AND Toasted Nori as topping.
