The ingredients needed to make Gawar ki sabzi(cluster beans):
  1. Get 200 gms gawar(cluster beans)
  2. Get 1 tbsp oil
  3. Take 1 tsp turmeric powder
  4. Prepare 1 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  5. Get 1/2 tsp asafoetida
  6. Take 1 tsp mustard seeds
  7. Make ready 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  8. Make ready 1 tsp coriander seed powder
  9. Get 1/2 tsp Cumin seed powder
  10. Prepare 2 tsp homemade black masala
  11. Prepare 1 tsp jaggery
  12. Prepare 1 tsp salt
  13. Make ready 1 tbsp roasted peanut powder
  14. Make ready 1/2 tbsp Grated dry coconut
  15. Take 1 tbsp finely chopped coriander

It is made with cluster beans, gram flour and regular spices. These cluster beans take little longer time to cook. So pressure cooking or steaming the beans is preferable method. I prefer to steam the beans.

Steps to make Gawar ki sabzi(cluster beans):
  1. Rinse the cluster beans. Cut the head and tail parts of it. Then cut the beans into small pieces.
  2. Microwave it for 5 to 10 minutes. Keep it aside.
  3. Heat the oil in pan. Add mustard seeds. Once it splutter add cumin seed, asafoetida, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and mix well.
  4. Now add cluster beans,red chilli powder, black masala and mix well.
  5. Cover it with lid and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove the lid and check whether cluster beans are cooked by pressing it with spatula.
  6. Now add jaggery, salt. Mix well. Finally add roasted peanut powder, and grated dry coconut stir well.
  7. Cool for 2 minutes. Switch off the gas. Cluster beans curry is ready to serve.

So pressure cooking or steaming the beans is preferable method. I prefer to steam the beans. Cluster Beans is know as kothavarangai in Tamil. This is a simple dry sabzi made with cluster beans and potato. This sabji goes well with rice and chapati.
